More on the ubiquity of Smartphones and user habits
Some interesting insights this morning at a presentation by Russell Stanners CEO of Vodafone New Zealand. Quoting research done by Morgan Stanley, he said that by the end of 2012 more Smartphones will be shipped worldwide than PC’s, reinforcing the rise and rise of the Smartphone as an internet access tool.
Vodafone’s own research over the summer showed that 43% of people access mobile internet whilst eating….Not sure what this means for marketers, although it reinforces the observation that with the mobile channel you really do have “anytime, anywhere” engagement with your audience. Also means that if they’re surfing the net then they’re not watching the TV ads even if the TV is on!
Also of interest was the fact that 70% of all web traffic is directed to the top ten websites which in NZ is ordered as follows:
1. Google
2. Facebook
3. Bebo
4. NZ Herald
5. TradeMe
